Pat the Dog Productions is a virtual interior design advisory for people creating thoughtful homes with their own local trades and suppliers. Small by design, we offer close collaboration, a considered eye and practical guidance — without asking you to fit neatly into a traditional full-service model.
We work virtually but take all aspects of your real world into consideration. We think about where the light falls, how a room flows, how materials feel, how sound moves through a space. But beautiful rooms are only part of it. A home should make sense of the person living there: their routines, their odd little habits, the pieces they could never part with and the life still unfolding around them. We listen closely, edit carefully and design with you, so the result feels personal rather than prescribed.
Visualisation helps us see and test the scheme. The real value lies in the thinking around it — the decisions, selections and documentation that turn an image into a design you can act on.
Meet the designer
Kara Liu is the founder and designer of Pat the Dog Productions. She holds a Bachelor of Design and a Graduate Diploma in Psychology, and spent fifteen years in premium fashion design before moving into interiors. That combination shapes how she listens, edits and composes a home. She brings an eye for colour, material, and what makes something feel cohesive rather than merely coordinated.
After buying, renovating and project-managing multiple properties of her own, Kara created the kind of design services she had wanted as an owner-manager: personal, collaborative, visually resolved and practical to implement. She knows what it is to make the call while a trade is waiting, and to live with the result.
For Kara, the best interiors do not simply look exceptional. They feel unmistakably like the person who lives there.
